The ZOLLAMT in Bad Radkersburg is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition SHERIFF IN/AT THE ZOLLAMT on Saturday, 8.6.2013.

Based on the “Liberation Art Project” of the styrian artist Josef Schützenhöfer, the exhibition was developed in collaboration with the American artist William Contino from the Alfred University in N.Y. and five of his art-students: Harriet Smith, Sarah Larsson Greenberg, Stephanie Giera, Lauren Gilson, Chris Rezk. From 8.6. till 31.7.2013, SHERIFF IN/AT THE ZOLLAMT shows artworks which cover the topics of security and state/polity, proposing alternatives to the current work of the police.

Besides the opening, there will be offered a varied program:

11 am – 1 pm Talk: Ursula Neugebauer (Universität der Künste Berlin) & William Contino (Alfred University, NY) & coffee and cake
2 pm Performance by Hariett Smith – in the town of Bad Radkersburg
4 pm walk-about with William Contino, Josef Schützenhöfer, Harriet Smith, Sarah Larsson Greenberg, Stephanie Giera, Lauren Gilson, Chris Rezk
5 pm Book presentation: “Liberation in Progress” by Herbert Nichols-Schweiger
5.30 pm Food & Drinks
6.30 pm Film: “Preis der Freiheit“ (“Price of Liberty”), by Art Media

The book “Liberation in Progress” focuses on the liberation by the Allies in the Austrian military history. Therefore, positions of both – Austrian artists as well as affected people of the liberation countries – approach this topic from different points of view.

The film “Price of Liberty“ accompanies Josef Schützenhöfer from the beginning of the “Liberation Art Project” until the exhibition in the Grazer Stadtmuseum. It points out the difficult work of the artist, to give adequate acknowledgement to the soldiers of the Allies as liberators in Pöllau/Styria.
